Path of Exile Item Upgrades
The performance of many Path of Exile items can be enhanced by upgrading the performance of them. They can be a good source of additional damage and more AD or even more attachments.
Often times however, upgraded Common and Magic gear is beaten out by Rare-grade gear because of their higher requirements.
Armor
Armor upgrades are a form of upgrade that can be used on weapons and armor items. They increase the effectiveness of the item they are attached to. Upgrades to armor are available in the game's world and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. Additionally, they can be salvaged from items with upgrade components in them using a specialist or more powerful salvage kit.

The amount of damage that an armored piece or weapon can absorb depends on the level of its upgrades. The absorption of damage by an armor piece will increase as it is upgraded to its maximum upgrade level. It's important to remember that this will increase the weight of the armor, so it must be heavier.
There are many different kinds of armor upgrades available in the game. Each has a different effect. Certain upgrades give armor an extra number of health points while others make it lighter and more powerful. The name of the upgrade will indicate the type of upgrade that an item will receive, as shown below.
Certain upgrades require magic or a combination of technology and magic, which are identified by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table. Additionally, some upgrades require a fee to use, which is shown by an "Charges" entry in the table below. These charges are either continuously updated or never expire based on the upgrade.
The cheapest method to upgrade armor is to use Iron Ore, which can be found by exploring the environment and looting chests of minor loot. Titanium is more expensive but is readily available at the smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, like the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to high level armor pieces. These upgrades can give players a significant increases in stats and are worth the cost.
The player must be aware that upgrading a piece up to the maximum upgrade level will increase its defense value. However, it can also reduce its agility and speed. Therefore, it is typically not recommended to upgrade armor pieces above +9, since the defensive boost gained is usually not worth the weight and power costs of the upgrades required.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades give players to enhance certain aspects of their weapon. Upgrades can improve the accuracy of a rifle or the damage that shotgun shells do. Certain weapons come with special upgrades that enhance their inherent qualities. Frictionless materials (improves stability, reduces the risk of weapon overheating) and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's acceleration to cause more damage) are two examples.
The majority of upgrades for weapons require the use of a whetblade, or one of the three Power Dices and a different amount Minerals and Erons. They can be obtained by completing side quests or killing a certain amount of monsters and bosses.
To upgrade an equipment set, weapon piece or Whetblade You must go to the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee of a certain amount of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the more bars required to complete it. If you have multiple upgrade materials, the cost of upgrading will be less.
In Chapter 2: Season 5, the ways to upgrade your equipment and weapon sets changed a little. Before you could go to an Upgrade Bench and pay a certain amount of Bars to upgrade your equipment or weapon to an increased rarity. You could continue doing this until you reach a maximum upgrade level for the equipment or weapon, following which the upgrades would be reset.
You can still do this, but the process is high on RNG and low on agency. Instead, you're much better off visiting stores and purchasing equipment with low upgrade levels, but good base scores and stat distributions. These will then have a better chance of bringing you the highest tier bonuses and blessings.
To increase their level quicker, players usually prioritize upgrading their weapons. Players should also upgrade the weapons that their squadmates use to make them stronger. Shepard for instance should upgrade his M92F in order to unlock the Beretta M93R. This will increase the effectiveness of the weapon when used with biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels are utilized in the sockets of armor and weapons, increasing a stat and providing secondary effects. Jewelry crafting is the process of making them, in which you combine the gemstone with specific reagents on a table. item upgrader of the jewel, the better its secondary effect. These reagents can be gotten from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses in the world, or by finding Legendary Gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler in exchange for Scattered Prisms and gold.
The Jeweler can enhance the quality of a gem in stages ranging from Crude up to Royal. The stat boosts will vary according to the tier that the jewel is at when it is inserted into jewelry, weapons, or equipment.
All tiers of jewels can be crafted at the Jeweler and Jeweler's Workshop, with the exception of the rare and legendary jewels that require you to be at a certain level to obtain these. Jewels can be substituted with another jewel without damaging the original. You are able to replace the jewel once in an item of equipment.
It is typical to use more gems to enhance the appearance of. Jewels also enhance performance and create a surface harder than metal so that repeated friction caused by pivots does not damage them.
A Glyphmaster can provide glyphs to enhance the look of your weapons and shields. These glyphs offer a small boost and can be traded, but they're not guaranteed to be available as loot. Glyphs are upgradeable, like jewelry, at the Jeweler for gold and Scattered Crystal. Glyphs may also be removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components such as aegis or traits cannot be exchanged, and can only be retrieved by using an Upgrade extractor or salvaging using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or Ascended Salvage.
Trinkets
Trinkets are a great way to give your character a variety of small, but useful advantages. They can be acquired starting in the beginning areas as loot or personal story rewards from vendors, or by completing road interactions. They may also be crafted by jewelers, and then found or purchased from the Trading Post.
The first trinkets a player is able to unlock is the cloak. It grants a small, but valuable boost to speed of movement and evasion. The player can then collect necklaces, rings, and amulets in a similar manner similar to how they obtained weapons and armor. Every piece of equipment has an upgrade slot that is either universal or jewel. Universal upgrades are smaller and can be utilized on any piece of equipment. Jewels cannot be upgraded or replaced and only work with certain trinkets.
These trinkets provide additional buffs and abilities that are active when the hero isn't in combat. This allows a hero to become more efficient even when not in combat. It can also make up for the absence of excellent team or talent tree slots which are usually filled by the hero's best stats.
A good general rule of thumb for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best-in-Slot) items that you won't be replacing soon, followed by items with desirable stats, but less important than the iLevel of the item being upgraded. This is especially true if an item has multiple stats that you'd like to upgrade, since it's generally better to upgrade a single crucial stat than two subpar ones.
Jungle players will often upgrade their yellow trinket to a red one prior to the start of the game. Mid and top players, on the other hand will pick either a pink or green ward, depending on the game's matchup. These choices will have a significant impact on the hero's abilities to control maps.
Aside from the things mentioned above, players can also find other trinkets throughout the game in the form of trophies and awards. These can be obtained through completing certain milestones within the story. For instance, completing the main quest of a chapter or beating a boss. These can be viewed by selecting the appropriate achievement from the reward tab of the hero menu.
