Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Item upgrading allows players to upgrade their weapons and gear with new affixes, boosting its stats base or giving additional benefits. To upgrade items, the player must have the item in their inventory and have access to the kiln.
Usually items that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base while objects with strong bases, such as Eth titans don't change in their stats following being upgraded.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into trinkets, weapons, armor and gathering tools, providing an attribute bonus or additional effect when the equipment is used. They can be purchased from vendors, found as loot by enemies, or gotten from chests or missions. Certain upgrades also have cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require the equipment to be above a certain level before they can be upgraded.
To upgrade the quality of a weapon, armor or other item in the game, the player will need to select it and then click on the Upgrade button on the toolbar. The preview will appear on the right side of the screen showing what the expected upgrade statistics will be as well as the necessary element or material required to complete the upgrade.
There are three kinds of upgrade components including universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, which comprise gems, are able to be used in any kind of equipment, and offer lower bonuses than upgrade components that are restricted to a specific type. Infusions are only placed in ascended gear or legendary equipment, are the same as jewels but provide larger bonuses and cannot be used in any other type of equipment. Suffix upgrades, which can be placed in gathering tools, include their name at the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for example adding a Glyph to the Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would transform it into a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.
If an individual upgrades a gathering tool, and then replaces the glyphs with a different one, the old one will be returned to their inventory. If you replace any other upgrade component the item will be destroyed, with the exception for the inscriptions, which can be swapped freely.
Leveling
The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some significant differences from earlier versions. Gear is now categorized in tracks and each item can only be upgraded a certain number of times before it is "leveled out." The costs for upgrading increase with each level, however the materials required do not. This lets players focus their efforts on a handful of important items to maximize their impact, rather than spreading out the upgrade costs across several items.
This allows the item to receive upgraded components, and have a greater chance of success. This bonus is called the Artisan's Energy. It will reset at 0 if the upgrade fails or increases if the upgrade succeeds.
Once a piece is upgraded to its maximum level, it can receive the affixes needed to enhance its abilities. The amount of affixes available will depend on the item's kind. For example an uncommon or rare weapon that has a standard base will have only two affixes to choose from and legendary armors can have up to eight affixes available for it.
Each upgrade step requires a certain number of Flightstones or Crests, based on whether the item is at its current level, and in which slot it is in. Typically, weapons will require more Flightstones to upgrade than other types of equipment.
If an item does not reach its max level the NPC will offer the player the option of transfer it to a different character and re-infuse it with another set of upgrades. This process can take up to two hours and costs the same amount of material but will result in lower chances of success.
Engineers use a level in order to compare the height of the building to an established location, such as the benchmark. This process is known as a "level-loop." This involves taking readings using the level, backsighting rod and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method guarantees that structures are built to an extremely high degree of precision and security.
Rerolling
Rerolling is the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is an essential element of the game that can increase the damage, strength or other attributes. This can be done through the item menu or pressing the Reroll button of an upgraded item. Rerolling an item can be costly and should be used sparingly.
The game allows players to recycle upgraded items, and use them to obtain Reroll tokens. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item or a similar item. Recyclable items come with an indicator of the level which shows how much of the upgrade gauge has been filled. The rarity and cost of upgrading an item determines the amount of level filled.
Prior to this, certain upgrades were given priority affixes, which made them easier to roll. This meant that you could receive the stats that mattered most to your build more often than others. This included stats like the armor's total armour, thorns, and control impaired duration reduced stats or the weapon's bonus attack speed and strike chance.
This was changed with the recent patch. Priority affixes are no longer required and all upgrades will have the same chance of rolling for all stats. This can be either good or bad, depending on what you want and need from your equipment.
Each upgraded item could be equipped with a special, fixed-value bonus that increases its strength by a certain percentage. These bonuses are offered over the usual affixes. The more you upgrade your product, the greater your chances of receiving a unique bonus.
The game also has a number set that grants a bonus when three or four upgraded items from the set are installed on a unit. This is a great method of giving the character more power without spending a lot of money.
Many players prefer to reroll their gear and weapons, especially in the beginning of the game. Rerolling can offer item upgrader to becoming a strong character, allowing them to reach higher levels and advance in the game much more quickly.
Sets
Sets are collections of elements that can be arranged in a variety of ways. They can be of various sizes, contain none at all, or contain just one element. They can be used to organize data or sort information. They also aid in studying patterns. Sets can be classified in a variety of ways such as size and shape.
The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom offers an array of set items that can be upgraded. Some are worth upgrading, others aren't. Upgrades are worthwhile for armor sets that offer high defense value and set bonuses. Upgrades to weapons aren't as effective in boosting stats as their purple counterparts. This makes them less attractive to upgrade in the event that your collection of armor and weapons pieces is already huge.
Some set items are upgraded to take advantage of their own unique functions which can be useful in some builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are a good example of this. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, increasing their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement were increased as well).
Upgrades are also possible to bring certain items up to the level of the different tiers. The Immortal King Set, for instance, is a huge range of levels ranging from 29 to 75. Upgrades to lower level items can enhance their defense, and improve their performance in terms of damage.
To determine if an item is worth upgrading, players can click the Upgrade button on the character screen. This will display the item's attributes, along with the items needed to upgrade it. To upgrade the No-mouth face for instance, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, as well as 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Alternatively, players can go to the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to check the upgrade requirements of specific items.
In general, weapons and armor are more valuable when they are fully updated. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons that have spell/weapon-damage glyphs. This will result in a significant improvement in their stats. Armor that has an upgraded appearance will also benefit from this as its defense value will increase when it goes from purple to gold.
